SPG RETURNS 7 TO 1 IN RECURRING ANNUAL ENERGY SAVINGS AT A SINGLE CLIENT SITE
For a client in a highly competitive industry, SPG undertook a three-week capacity release exercise to identify opportunities to do more with equal or less resources. SPG’s initial review of the site’s energy management approach resulted in identification of $1.25 million in annual recurring savings and a reduction in the manufacturing plant’s facilities energy costs by 17 percent. For most companies, energy spend is rarely optimized offering a compelling savings and capacity release opportunity. Furthermore, energy savings once identified and implemented rarely results in ongoing savings due to poor team behaviors and legacy processes.
SPG’s energy efficiency value accelerator is designed to help clients do more with less energy investments and accelerates a process for smarter planning, operations, consumption and allocation of energy resources. SPG’s energy efficiency value accelerator built over decades of experience, works with the client’s existing processes to quickly identify areas of waste, maintenance and equipment upgrade opportunities and practice inefficiencies. SPG’s value accelerator delivered savings and, in order to capture recurring annual savings at the client site, trained the client’s site team on energy management best practices.
Through a rigorous but conservative analysis and by using an active approach to energy management, the SPG team outlined how to achieve $1.25 million annually reduction (recurring) in energy costs.
Several low-cost projects that would deliver results quickly (thermal storage scheduling to offset peak load periods) were identified. Affirmation of existing projects that were underway and delivering results (LED lighting and 400 Hz generators) were accelerated.
Further, to ensure recurring savings, SPG trained the client’s site team on energy management best practices to build a culture of energy efficiency.
SPG identified achievable within client goals, energy savings opportunities to deliver impact and value to the bottom line.
SPG was able to identify multiple energy efficiency gains at the client site and it reverted a potential annual budget opportunity of $6 million for future implementation.
In the immediate term, SPG locked in a $1.25 million of recurring annual savings which was a 17 percent reduction of the site’s recurring spend.
